60042 (2024). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: Further to response to WPQ 56203(2024), are any people in prison currently receiving alcohol and other drug treatment while the programmes are in the process of being redesigned; if not, how long have the programmes stopped and when does he expect them to restart?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections is continuing to deliver alcohol and other drug treatment (AOD) programmes in the majority of Corrections-managed prisons while they transition to moderate and high intensity programmes. Doing so will enable better matching of treatment duration and intensity with the individual’s AOD need. I am further advised that the delivery of AOD programmes has been paused in Auckland Prison since June 2024 and that delivery is expected to resume in the coming weeks.
