59967 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Education: Will the Ministry of Education action any of the recommendations of the Education Hub's "The Illusion of Inclusion" report; if so, what progress has been made?
Hon Erica Stanford: The recommendations from the Education Hub’s “The Illusion of Inclusion” report are consistent with what the Ministry of Education has heard from other sources, which informed the work programme I am developing to deliver on my learning support priority to meet the needs of all learners, including neurodiverse learners.
Key features of this work programme include:
1) Making operational changes so the learning support system is easier to navigate, with better data collection.
2) Creating a data-driven funding model that is focused on delivering high-quality interventions, programmes, and supports.
3) Optimising the learning support workforce.
4) Building teacher capability to meet diverse learning needs.
5) Developing a network plan for specialist and alternative provision.
