59813 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What is the total sum, if any, of projected future spend on redundancy payments to staff at ministries, departments and agencies, if any, for which the Minister is responsible as at 17 September 2024, by month and agency?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that the Ministry of Health cannot project what total spend on redundancy payments will be in the future for staff as at 17 September 2024. I am advised that Health New Zealand has included a provision of $135m for redundancy payments in its 2023/24 annual accounts, noting that this is subject to year-end audits.
