Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Tertiary Education and Skills: What is the total sum, if any, of redundancy payments made to staff at ministries, departments and agencies, if any, for which the Minister is responsible during the period 27 November 2023 - 17 September 2024, by month and agency?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) $656,917.82 of redundancy payments were made to staff at TEC during the period 27 November 2023 - 17 September 2024. Monthly breakdown: • December 2023: $90,182.98 • February 2024: $24,923.08 • March 2024: $26,115.38 • April 2024: $27,453.46 • May 2024: $268,463.65 • June 2024: $219,779.27 In relation to the Ministry of Education, I refer the Member to the Minister of Education’s response to written parliamentary question 59782 (2024). I am advised by Education New Zealand that no redundancy payments were made during this time period.
