59656 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister for the Environment: What evidence, if any, does the minister have that the current freshwater farm plan system is "too costly and not fit-for-purpose” as quoted in "Government to pause freshwater farm plan rollout"?
Hon Penny Simmonds: The Government has signalled via the coalition agreement the intention to improve freshwater farm plans, so they are more cost-effective and pragmatic for farmers. Many stakeholders provided feedback that the current system was too complex and costly. As the Government works through developing improvements to the current system, further analysis around costs of the system is expected to be undertaken.
