Hon Chris Penk: I did not receive any advice from MBIE about the types of workers, if any, employed in the building and construction industry, who left New Zealand to move to Australia in the 2025 year ending 16 December 2025. On 15 August 2025 MBIE provided me with a copy of a report commissioned by the New Zealand Chinese Building Industry Association (Eaqub S. & Collins R., New Zealand’s Building Construction Sector: 2025, available at nzcbia.org.nz/industry). Page 18 of that report briefly discusses potential trends in migration of construction workers from New Zealand to Australia. The report does not discuss the types of workers involved.
