59201 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister for Building and Construction: Did the Minister personally take the decision to remove Auckland, Northland and the Chatham Islands from the current earthquake-prone building system, and if so, when?

Hon Chris Penk: This decision was made by Cabinet, informed by economic analysis based on the 2022 National Seismic Hazard Model (NSHM), with lessons from overseas jurisdictions and a range of stakeholder feedback also contributing.
