59184 (2025). Shanan Halbert to the Minister for Universities: What actions, if any, is the Minister taking to support the Tertiary Education Strategy’s goal of reducing disparities in achievement between population groups at universities?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) will require Universities’ investment plans to include Learner Success Plans and Disability Action Plans that outline how the university is working to improve outcomes for all learners, including progress updates against previous plans. First year retention is also a key educational performance indicator for these plans. The TEC supports the Universities’ plans via its Ōritetanga Learner Success Framework and accompanying resources. This is also my response to Written Parliamentary Question 59185 (2025).
