59115 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Further to 54429, is it the Minister's view that suppliers could voluntarily offer to pay up front for testing and decontamination in some circumstances, and if so, should this be made mandatory in policy or legislation?
Hon Scott Simpson: Suppliers could voluntarily offer to pay for testing and decontamination if they wish to. The Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 addresses situations where suppliers can be required to pay for foreseeable costs of supplying unsafe goods.
