Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister for Social Investment: In relation to the Social Wellbeing Agency analysis cited in her 2024 “accelerating social investment” paper, what independent peer review, if any, has been undertaken of the methods used to link risk factors to later criminal offending, and will she release that review?

Hon Nicola Willis: I am advised by the Social Investment Agency that the data referencing youth crime in the Cabinet paper is presented in the Insights Report published by the Social Wellbeing Agency here: https://www.sia.govt.nz/assets/Document-Library/Wellbeing-of-children-and-young-people-who-offend.pdf. This analysis did not receive independent peer review but was peer reviewed within the Agency.
