59026 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister for Digitising Government: Where will the main server for the Government app be based?

Hon Judith Collins: No personally identifiable data is stored remotely on servers for the Govt.nz app. As the Govt.nz app is a mobile device app it is hosted on Apple and Google App store infrastructure to make it available for download. As part of the solution, the content for the services section of the app is provided via Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosted cloud-based servers in Sydney, Australia. There are plans to move this to AWS New Zealand in 2026.
