58975 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: Were there any staff increases at the Ministry of Social Development’s historic claims team following the announcement on the 9 May 2025 about redress claims for abuse in care, if so, how many?

Hon Louise Upston: The Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) has advised me that among the announcements made on 9 May 2025 was that survivors who had a closed claim would receive a 50% top up payment. To enable survivors to register for a top up and to make the payments, the Ministry employed an additional 10 FTE’s all on fixed term contracts.
