58957 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What roles, if any, will staff the Oranga Tamariki second military-style academy planned for March 2026 at Te Au rere a te Tonga, listed by secondments, existing staff at Te Au rere a te Tonga and new recruitment?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that a combination of new and seconded Oranga Tamariki staff will deliver the next Military-Style Academy programme. The expected composition of Te Au rere a te Tonga residence-based roles is as follows: • Kaiwhakahaere • Programme Lead • Programme Coordinator • Manager Clinical Programme • Clinical Psychologist • Transition Delivery Lead • Case Leader (x3) • Associate Director • Team Leader Operations (x3) • Unit Team Leader Operations • Admin Support Worker (x2) • Youth Worker (x15) I am further advised that recruitment is ongoing and therefore a breakdown of which roles are being filled by secondments, Te Au rere a te Tonga staff or new staff cannot be provided at this time. Note that while the intention is to begin a second Military-Style Academy programme in March 2026, the start date has not yet been finalised.
