Hon Nicola Grigg: In my engagement with businesses across the country, I have heard that many are already facing many challenges in the current economic environment, and increased costs associated with a regulatory regime would place additional pressure on them. Mandatory reporting frameworks require investment from businesses in updating their payroll systems, analytics capability, compliance processes and governance oversight. While I have been informed that the costs are substantial, I have not sought advice on the specific set-up costs for the Australian framework.
