Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by Fire and Emergency that the approximate number of properties that are located outside of the 8-minute response time window but would not be if Hutt City Fire Station was currently open, is 9,800. However, this is an approximate figure based on modelling and is not exact. I am assured by Fire and Emergency that the arrangements they have had in place since the closure of the Hutt City site are fit for purpose. The former Hutt City Station crews are still responding to Hutt City incidents from Avalon, and the Hutt City coverage area is adequately supported by other stations.
