58783 (2025). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Associate Minister of Education: Did the Ministry of Education provide advice on whether the proposed changes to licensing criteria align with Te Whāriki, New Zealand’s early childhood curriculum; if so, what was that advice?

Hon David Seymour: No. The licensing criteria amendments did not include curriculum-related criteria. Early Childhood Education service providers must still meet existing minimum curriculum requirements, including ensuring their curriculum is consistent with the prescribed curriculum framework.
