58669 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: How many, if any, schools have informed the Ministry of Education that they are managing asbestos exposure risks due to asbestos-containing sand?

Hon Erica Stanford: As at 12 December 2025, approximately 690 schools have been in contact with the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) on a range of issues relating to asbestos-containing sand. The Ministry does not hold data on how many of those schools are managing asbestos exposure risks due to asbestos-containing sand.
