58638 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: How much, if any, did the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, spend on christmas, holiday, end of year, and any other types of celebratory functions or parties during November and December in 2022?
Hon Scott Simpson: I am advised that the spends (excluding GST) were as follows: Accreditation Council: $875.68 Commerce Commission: $6,582 External Reporting Board: $941 Financial Markets Authority (FMA): $17,307. The FMA Christmas event in 2022 was more expensive because it took place off-site, while all other Christmas events took place within FMA offices. The Christmas event in 2022 was an opportunity for FMA staff to reconnect following the impact of COVID-19. The events returned to pre-COVID levels of expenditure from 2023 onwards. Retirement Commission: $1608.70 Takeovers Panel: $469.16
