58441 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What is the anticipated date of completion of the ‘Construction of Waitākere Primary Birthing Unit’ project as a whole, as part of Te Whatu Ora’s Infrastructure and Investment projects, as at 16 September 2024?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that the anticipated date of practical completion for this project is December 2026. I am further advised that completion has been delayed largely due to late finalisaiton of the detailed design; value engineering exercises undertaken to reduce cost, and subsequent redesign and change request. Please note, forecasted completion dates may be subject to change based on various factors, including system/cost pressures, necessary approvals, etc. There are key stage gates where accuracy of an estimate is enhanced, these are generally at business case decision, at the end of each design phase and main contract award.
