58311 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the as at 16 September 2024, toward the recommendation ‘Consumer and whānau panel to oversee re-design’ in Te Whatu Ora’s ‘BreastScreen Aotearoa Quality Improvement Action Plan’?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that since the release of the Review in 2023, structural changes within Health New Zealand have significantly changed the BSA governance structure. While this new structure may evolve, a full governance redesign overseen by a consumer and whānau panel is not appropriate at this time. I am assured that consumer and whānau voice will continue to feed into the BSA Programme’s work to implement Review recommendations, and that Pae Whakatere – the governance group overseeing this implementation process – includes members with a consumer and whānau focus.
