58276 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How much, if any, did the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, spend on christmas, holiday, end of year, and any other types of celebratory functions or parties during November and December in 2022?
Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) that the Department spent $7,981 on Christmas, holiday, end of year, and any other types of celebratory functions or parties during November and December in 2022. The Department allowed for up to $25 per employee to be used for the Christmas, holiday, end of year, and any other types of celebratory functions or parties in the 2022/23 financial year.
I am advised by Fire and Emergency New Zealand that it does not fund Christmas parties or functions. The organisation does incur some Christmas related expenditure over the period for things like Christmas decorations, prizes and lollies for local parades and events, Christmas cards, and modest gifts for community partners thanking them for their support over the year.
Listed below is the spend on Christmas, holiday, end of year, and any other types of celebratory functions or parties for the other portfolios I am responsible for:
- Lotto NZ- $18,414; and
- Classification Office - $840.
