58186 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: What are the physical disabilities and complex health conditions that the military-style academy pilot high-level design excluded from the pilot cohort, as per the Cabinet Paper entitled 'Military-style academy pilot - the approach'?
Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki that there was not a set list of physical disabilities or complex health conditions that would exclude young people from taking part in the Military-Style Academy Pilot. Instead, the individual physical and psychological needs of each young person were assessed on a case-by-case basis, including during assessments with a senior psychologist. High support needs that could not be accommodated during the pilot would include restricted physical mobility, or mental health conditions that would mean the young person could not fully or safely participate in the programme.
