58108 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister for Biosecurity: What advice, if any, has the Minister received on whether wildlife hospitals and veterinary services are prepared for the potential arrival of Avian Flu, since May 2024?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am frequently updated on a range of matters related to HPAI. I am advised that the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and the Department of Conservation are working closely with New Zealand's wildlife hospitals, poultry industry groups, veterinarians, and rehabilitation centres on monitoring and awareness to enable early detection of the virus in New Zealand.
