Hon Peeni Henare to the Minister of Defence: Given France's hesitation to join Operation Olympic Defender without assurances on sovereignty, what specific legal or operational guarantees does New Zealand have that participation will not infringe on our national sovereignty or foreign policy independence, if any?

Hon Judith Collins: New Zealand retains sovereign command and control over New Zealand Defence Force personnel, and those personnel can only act in accordance with international laws and New Zealand laws and policies.
