Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised that in 2024 to date, the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) has paid a total of $113,624.11 to contracted specialists that have worked on the proposed reforms to Te Pukenga as part of the Vocational Education and Training (VET) re-design. Approximately 13 full time equivalent roles are dedicated to working in the VET re-design work programme. As the individuals working in these roles can vary according to demand, it is not possible to provide the breakdown of time and cost as the Member has requested. For Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) - No contractors or staff have been engaged/employed to work specifically on the proposed reforms to Te Pūkenga so far. This work is consistent with TEC's core functions so has been resourced using existing TEC staff so far. For New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), it is estimated staff have spent 185 hours
