58081 (2024). Mariameno Kapa-Kingi to the Minister of Housing: Has Kāinga Ora conducted any reviews or made changes to its policies on state houses located on floodplains in the last 12 months, and if so, what changes have been implemented?

Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora advises me that they have strengthened the due diligence processes in places that require a flood risk assessment to be completed for any construction project located in a flood hazard area. Additionally, Kāinga Ora has a programme of work dedicated to enhancing flood risk management maturity. A fundamental component of this work is a national flood risk assessment to improve understanding of state housing exposure and vulnerability to flooding. This information will inform flood risk management strategies and planning.
