58064 (2024). Lan Pham to the Minister for the Environment: Is the minister considering consider taking steps to clarify the current legislative framework for flood management?
Hon Penny Simmonds: The Government has committed to addressing the impacts from severe weather events including flooding. I have progressed Orders in Council under the Severe Weather Emergency Recovery Legislation Act 2023 to help communities recover from flooding. The Government has also committed to developing new national direction on natural hazards, which will provide a comprehensive, nationally consistent framework for addressing the risks posed by these hazards, including increased risks from climate change.
