58052 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What specific actions, if any, are being taken to prevent gaming of health targets by health providers, as outlined in the recommendations from the Ministry of Health?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that a suite of balancing measures have been established for each of the targets within the detailed implementation plans, which include measures designed to mitigate gaming or unintended consequences of the targets. I am also meeting regularly with clinical leaders in Health New Zealand to understand any clinical issues associated with the targets.
