57956 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Justice: What advice, if any, has the Minister received regarding human rights in relation to the gang's legislation amendment bill by date and title?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: The Crown Law Office provided advice on the Gangs Legislation Amendment Bill prior to introduction (26 February 2024). Human rights advice was included in various briefings and aide memoires received by the Minister. I refer the Member to attachment 1. Human rights advice was also included in the two Regulatory Impact Statements prepared by the Ministry of Justice: Responding to Gang Harms, 14 February 2024 and Annex on Possession Ban, 17 July 2024.
