57924 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: Does the Minister plan on, if at all, delegating to the Associate Minister of Education the authority to direct a state school to a charter school, if so, why?

Hon Erica Stanford: A state school cannot be directed to convert to a charter school. However, the Education and Training Amendment Bill provides the Minister of Education with the ability to direct the board of a state school to make an application to the Authorisation Board to convert to a charter school. I am not currently intending to delegate this.
