Hon Judith Collins: The most recent data on the Ministry of Defence’s use of contractors (including those previously employed by the Ministry) can be found on the Parliament website as part of the Ministry’s 2023/24 Estimates Review for the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Select Committee: https://www.parliament.nz/en/pb/sc/scl/foreign-affairs-defence-and-trade/ As at 9 September 2024, the New Zealand Defence Force had 1,428 contractors. Four of these were formerly employed full-time by the Defence Force, with three having resigned and one completing their fixed-term engagement since 27 November 2023.
