57773 (2024). Hon Phil Twyford to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Has the Government asked the Indonesian government to undertake an independent investigation of the death of helicopter Glen Conning in West Papua on 5 August?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: Criminal investigations are the responsibility of the law enforcement agencies of the country concerned. I am advised that The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade are seeking regular updates on this investigation including through the office of New Zealand’s Ambassador to Indonesia and New Zealand Police’s liaison officer stationed in Jakarta.
