Hon Simeon Brown: Let’s Get Wellington Moving spent a total of $50,569,832 throughout the course of its programme developing the Emerging Preferred Option for Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and State Highway Improvements (SHI). Costs cannot be split out between the MRT and SHI aspects as these were tracked across the full programme, rather than as separable portions. Since costs have been split out between the MRT and SHI aspects, the NZTA has spent $1,741,535 from the National Land Transport on the SH1 Second Mt Victoria Tunnel and Basin Reserve upgrade project, including the long tunnel option.
