57616 (2025). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Defence: What are the holiday shut down dates, if any, for the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, during the 2025-26 holiday period?

Hon Judith Collins: Ministry of Defence: The Ministry’s leave period for staff is between 25 December 2025 and 4 January 2026. Critical functions remain on-call throughout the period. New Zealand Defence Force: The HQ NZDF closedown is from 20 December 2025 to 4 January 2026 inclusive. The minimum staffing (reduced activity) period at HQ NZDF locations is from 13 December 2025 to 19 January 2026. NZDF Camps and Bases follow the HQ NZDF lead, with scope for change by Camp and Base Commanders depending on operational requirements.
