57492 (2025). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: What specific guidance or regulations currently exist, if any, to protect workers involved in the manufacture, packaging, transport, or retail of play sand products from asbestos exposure?

Hon Brooke van Velden: The Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016 sets expectations about the safe removal of asbestos containing materials, and decontamination of sites that may have been contaminated. This is supported by an Approved Code of Practice for the management of asbestos, and the online advice referred to in my response to Written Question 57490 (2025).
