Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: How many, if any, people recorded on the Ministry of Social Development's transfer register due to overcrowding were referred to a community housing provider so far in 2025/26 and how many, if any, were referred to a community housing provider in each of the past five financial years?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that obtaining this information would require substantial manual collation and engagement and divert MSD staff from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 210/6, I consider that the time, and hence the expense, of answering the Member’s question is not in the public interest.
