56579 (2025). Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: What has been the volume (number and dollar value) of undeclared or illicit cash seized at the border in the last 12 months, and what is the target for this figure following Ministerial Advisory Group's recommendations?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that between 1 December 2024 and 30 November 2025, the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) has seized $327,832.35 NZD or equivalent currency across three seizures at the air border, and $599,558.58 NZD or equivalent currency in one seizure at the sea border in undeclared cash.
