56556 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, has Te Whatu Ora taken in the last three months to 9 September 2024 to improve pay and conditions for laboratory workers?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: Corrected reply: Health New Zealand has advised that they initially provided an incorrect answer to this question. I am now advised that from 1 July 2024, Health NZ increased the purchase price of laboratory services to help laboratories meet cost pressures across their operations. I am further advised that the uplift varies. Some contracts have specified annual uplifts; some contracts are being renegotiated as the previous contracts have either come to, or coming to, the end of the term, and some contracts have a review mechanism.
