56522 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for the Environment: What is the total spending on the hiring of plants by entities for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, broken down by month?
Hon Penny Simmonds: Since 27 November 2023, the Ministry for the Environment has spent a total of $14,827.88 on plant hire across its Christchurch and Auckland offices. In Christchurch, the monthly cost is $418.17 excluding GST, with a total spend to date of $10,036.08. In Auckland, the monthly cost was $252.20 excluding GST, with a total spend of $4,791.80 before the contract ended in June 2024. Since May 2024, the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has spent a total of $32,418 excluding GST on plant hire and maintenance for its Wellington office. The monthly cost is $1,081 excluding GST. Prior to May 2024, the EPA paid for plants as part of a general services contract with Rentokil and is unable to provide a specific cost for plant hire under that arrangement.
