56486 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter April to June 2024 on the proposed action ‘identify the priority focus areas for regions to implement programmes of work to reduce unwarranted variation in acute care, with a focus on equity’ under ‘Strategic Priority Area 2: Leadership and accountability’ within Te Whatu Ora’s ‘Acute Care Plan 2024’?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that during the April to June 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand progressed the following workstreams aimed at reducing unwanted variation in acute care:
- Development of a draft document for the Acute Flow Operational Standards.
- Finalised a performance monitoring framework.
- Implementation of a national escalation framework to reduce variation in hospital escalation practices.
- Embedding nationally consistent, daily operational flow meetings
