56485 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Children: How many plants, broken down by species or type, have been hired by each entity for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, and what were the suppliers and locations for each installation, broken down by month?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised by Oranga Tamariki Rentokil Initial Ltd provided hire plants to Oranga Tamariki over the period November 2023 to December 2025. I am further advised that for the period December 2024 to December 2025, plants were hired for three Oranga Tamariki site offices (in Mangere, Otahuhu and Manurewa). Oranga Tamariki cannot access data about plant hire at a site level before December 2024. I am further advised by Oranga Tamariki that to provide a breakdown of the number of plants by species or type in the required timeframe would require substantial collation and divert staff from their core duties. In accordance with Speakers’ Ruling 199-3, I consider that the time, and hence expense, of answering this question in the timeframe allowed for written parliamentary questions, is not in the public interest.
