56427 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: How many students, if any, in year 12 are at risk of not getting the NCEA corequisites?
Hon Erica Stanford: In Year 12, 84.6 percent of enrolled students have met the co-requisite requirements. A similar proportion are participating in NCEA, meaning very few students are at risk of the co-requisite preventing them from achieving NCEA. For those who are at risk, the Numbers, Names, Needs (NNN) approach helps schools and kura identify and support these students to ensure they can gain NCEA.
Additional standards that contribute to the co-requisite, such as NZQA examinations, are yet to be counted and are expected to increase the number of students who have met the co-requisite.
