56426 (2024). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Does the Minister intend to give the Grocery Commissioner the power to require the major supermarkets to sell wholesale products to their smaller rivals at the same rate as to their own stores, and if not, why not?

Hon Andrew Bayly: The Grocery Commissioner’s Annual Grocery Report noted the wholesale regime is new but has had limited impact. The Commerce Commission will undertake further work on a wholesale code, as well as a wholesale inquiry. I support the Commission with this work to ensure better competition in the supermarket sector.
