56386 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Rail: How does the current estimated cost of the new ferry project, as at 4 December 2025, compare with the previously stated estimate of $1.86b and the maximum project limit of $2b?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: It compares as follows: 19 November 2025 had a total programme spend estimate of $1.867 billion, of which the taxpayer contribution will be no more than $1.7 billion; and the exact same figures apply as at 4 December 2025.
