56364 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Rail: How will additional geotechnical survey requirements at Picton be managed to ensure the landside infrastructure budget does not exceed projected cost limits?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: The recently completed geotechnical investigations will support validation or refinement of the assumptions that underpin the wharf design as it is further developed. Risk associated with these geotechnical assumptions has been recognised and modelled through a robust quantitative risk assessment supported by professional quantity surveyors. This has supported the establishment of cost and time contingencies across the ferry replacement programme.
