56326 (2025). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister for Food Safety: Do you believe the new model, as outlined in the draft changes of the Animal Products Notice: Specified Meat for Export with Official Assurance 2025 will reduce costs for companies, if so, on what basis?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I have not received any specific analysis on the matter as this is currently considered an operational matter for the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) to address. MPI currently has public consultation underway on the Animal Products Notice, which closes on 23 January 2026, and will consider all submissions and feedback received, including any potential impacts from the proposals, before making final decisions in early 2026.
