56321 (2025). Hon Julie Anne Genter to the Minister of Transport: What will be the bike infrastructure, if any, leading up to and from the walking and biking tunnel in the SH1 Improvements Project?

Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that the project includes a new Mt Victoria Tunnel with a separated 3.6-metre-wide shared path for walking and cycling, replacing the substandard facility in the existing tunnel. Leading up to and from this tunnel: • On the Hataitai side, the tunnel shared use path extends into Hataitai and links with the WCC cycle network on Moxham Ave and the new widened walking and cycling bridge which connects to Hataitai Park. • On the Basin Reserve side, a shared path will connect the western portal of the new Mt Victoria Tunnel with existing and reconfigured walking and cycling facilities around the Basin Reserve, including the existing cycling facility on Cambridge Terrace.
