56317 (2024). Rachel Boyack to the Minister of Health: What advice, if any, has the Minister seen to suggest Nelson Hospital's two earthquake prone George Manson and Percy Brunette buildings could be kept?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that Health NZ has started earthquake strengthening works on the George Manson building, and these works are expected to be complete in early 2025. I am further advised that the seismic issues with the current Nelson Hospital buildings are not as extensive as initially thought and that agreement has been reached with Nelson City Council on the repair methodologies to enable the Earthquake Prone Building notices to be lifted. These works are in the design phase.
