56239 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Statistics: Did the Minister's department, if any, have a chief science advisor as of 1 July 2024; and if not, are there any plans for future hire of a chief science advisor?

Hon Andrew Bayly: I am advised that Stats NZ does not have a Chief Science Advisor and did not have one on 1 July 2023 or 1 July 2024. Stats NZ does not have any plans to recruit a Chief Science Advisor. While not holding the Chief Science Advisor title, Vince Galvin, Stats NZ’s Chief Methodologist, is a member of the Prime Minister’s Chief Science Advisor Forum.
