56113 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Education: Did the Minister's department, if any, have a chief science advisor as of 1 July 2024; and if not, are there any plans for future hire of a chief science advisor?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry), the Education Review Office and the New Zealand Qualifications Authority that, as at 1 July 2024, there were no Chief Science Advisors working across my Education portfolio. The Ministry’s inaugural Chief Education Science Advisor finished his contract in June 2024, and the Ministry will fill this position in due course in line with the Ministry's approach to recruitment and the Savings Programme.
